Reverse Heist — Frieze London

Frieze London, 2022. Instead of stealing work out of the fair, Criatura smuggled work in — hanging an unauthorized Tenta canvas on a booth wall with its own printed label, then standing beside it as if it had always been there.

The piece — a pink and green tentacle with the caption 'This doesn't belong here' — became the origin point of the Reverse Heist series that would later crash MMCA, Frieze Seoul, and Art Basel Miami.

A one-line thesis on gatekeeping in contemporary art: the wall decides, until someone puts something on it that shouldn't be there.
